A new papercraft featuring a scene from the Lunar Chronicles by @marissameyerauthor! Voted by you all and intially nominated by @noavslooten for the challenge! Everyone who wins in the recent giveaway will receive a bonus print of this craft as my penalty!
🌙
Since I got a wildcard, I chose to feature Cress! I really went heavy on the symbolisms here for color selection. The cool blues and purples representing Cress' involuntary environment. The warm tones highlight her items of comfort; the pillows she uses to build a fort around her desk, the bed sheet to cover the ever gazing moon, her hair which trace the endless trails she's taken around her prison. I do realize her hair only goes past her knees in the book, but since the cover took liberties with the length, I added an extra mile. (how could I resist?)
🌙
As you can see I WAY over indulged on this papercraft for the scope of a weekend build challenge. (which is why I failed!) But I also ran into some issues retrieving the paper I needed due to limited hours for my local craft store. Can you imagine a frantic woman, dashing to the front door seconds before closing screaming 'WAIT! PLEASE! I JUST NEED ONE SHEET OF PURPLE PIZZAZZ!'
🌙
That was me. 🌙
This was a very similar build as the Heir of Fire 'Crisp Light', where I attempted to use pure paper (no paint) to represent the colors. The only extra art mediums were the white/yellow line accents and partial charcoal tinting in the space scene. Thorne is purely made of vellum with white ink accents, and paper buttons. Super fun challenge either way!
